Information

What is an engine bay?

All engines get dirty; it’s just what happens. A dirty engine can cause problems, if trash, dirt or other particulates clogs up parts or get inside systems.

How do you clean an engine bay?

Some auto professionals suggest using special products and/or a non-toxic cleaner, since some of the grease cutting or degreasing cleaners may not be good for the vehicle paint or electrical wiring, as well as the environment. It’s still best to avoid geting too much of any type of cleaner on the electrical parts, and avoiding some components like air intake systems need to be avoided altogether.

What are my options?

The vehicle can be taken to an auto detailing shop, or an owner can easily clean the engine bay. There are numerous automotive websites and other sites that sell cleaning supplies, and some sites offer free instructions on the best way to perform the task.
