Information
How does a vehicle suspension system work?
A suspension system provides steering stability, shields passengers from road noise and vibrations, and also protects the vehicle. A suspension system connects a vehicle to the wheels and consists of springs, shock absorbers and linkages.
What does it mean if my car wanders from side to side?
If the vehicle wanders from side to side, the suspension bushings may be worn. Too much bouncing or clunking noises over bmups in the road can also indicate worn shocks or springs. The problem could also be something as simple as a loose mountin bolt, or low tire pressure. Worn tires or out of balance tires could also create a problem.
What are my options?
The vehicle can be taken to a repair shop, or the owner can diagnose or perform some diagnostics and minor repairs. For more serious problems a DIY repair may not be possible. Automotive websites advertise repair services and sell parts. Other websites sell service manuals or how-to books.
