What about the dashboard?
Most materials are sensitive to exposure to strong sunlight, and vinyl or leather dashboards can crack or fade with time.
How can a dashboard be repaired?
If the damage is minor, it may be able to be repaired with a compound that can be purchased from an automobile vendor. If the damage is more severe, there repair kits can be purchased. Some vendors also offer hard dashboard tops or carpeted dashboard mats that fit over the original dashboard that will hide damaged dashboards or protect undamaged ones.
What are my options?
The vehicle can either be taken to a local auto upholstery shop, or the owner can purchase DIY repair kits and supplies. There are numerous automotive websites that explain how to prepare the dashboard and perform repairs, while others sell services, dashboard covers, supplies and kits.
