How do I open the hood of a 1953 Ford F100 Pickup?

there should be a lever in

there should be a lever in the grill spoking or just under front of hood.

I found a flat lever I can

I found a flat lever I can push under the hood in the front. It won't release the hood so it will open. Is there a safety lever or latch that I should use first? If so I can't locate it.

Thanks,

Mitch

never seen one, latch must be stuck, or has an after market latch

Thanks for the response. The

Thanks for the response. The latch is not after market. The truck is 99% original.

If the latch is stuck, do you have any ideas to address the problem?

Mitch

can you get a good look at

can you get a good look at it, shouldn't be too hard to pop it, crime wasn't too high back then. follow the lever to where ever it goes, see if it moves another part, wiggle the lever to see witch is frozen. then try and move that part with screw driver or make shift wire, ect.., if you can get a camara in to take a pic and email it even better.

Thanks for the help. There

Thanks for the help. There are two levers. The first is just to the right of the center point of the of the front of the hood. It needs to be released first, then there is a latch just under the center point of the hood.

The first one (to the right) allows the hood to go up about an inch or so, and the second one allows it to be opened all the way. Looks to me it is the way it was designed originally.

Again,

This site is great and mws919 really helped me with my problem.
