I cannot get the 3 prongs on the air filter housing to go in the metal clamp . Do they have to fit in the holes or do you just put the clamp around and fasten. It is a 2000 f150.

those clamps have a certain

those clamps have a certain position to fit into. look for build-ups of rubber/plastic around the area where they go. one they are put into these positions they usually go on fairly easily.
