drums have shoes and disks have pads - if your vehicle has drum brakes place jackstands under axle on both sides - remove rims - remove both drums but leave one side to use as reference guide as you remove the retainer springs and install new shoes - i always have a reference manual or try alldatadiy.com for step by step info

oh special tools are handy like spring pliers to release the longer springs but can be done without them if careful
