I’m not a believer of synthetic oil, but I’m a firm believer in the “3000” mile oil and filter change. As far as I’m concerned anyone who tells you that the “3000” mile rule is dead is trying to get you to destroy your engine so he can sell you another engine to destroy.

The engine in your “Grand Prix” calls for a 5W-30 oil. Don’t use 10W-40. Use only “Castrol GTX” ORGANIC motor oil and ONLY “Purolator Pure One” oil filters. Keep a log, and change both (oil and filter) every 3000 miles.

the newer engines need the thin oil because of their close tolerances. if you haven't been using synthetic it may cause seals to start leaking. many dealers and oil companies promote the recommended longer spacing between changes because the oil is more durable than the oil back in ASE's day. i'am with him though and change mine every 3000 to 4000 miles and check the levels on fluids every week. preventive maintainence is the key in any machine.

Yes, according to Valvoline
