1998 frod windstar wont stay running when first started
my van starts and runs like a dream, aside from a little rattling noise, after it sits for at least an hour. The problem is after i park the van from going somewhere, if I try to start it again within an hour after i turn it off it will stall seconds after it starts and will keep doing so unles I slowly tap the gas and continuously rev the engine for about 30 seconds or so. I have noticed that there is some oil getting into the air filter housing, dont think that is normal but not sure. Also according to the vin# it says the engine is a 3.8, but according to diagrams and specs i have found as far as the pcv valve, it is located in the position of a 3.0 engine. again, not sure if they are located in the same spot but other sources said the pcv is located on the rear of engine on the passenger side on a 3.8 and located in the middle of the rear engine on a 3.0. Any help would b appreciated. Oh yeah, the service engine light is on and Autozone read the codes and they are P0153, P0171, and P0174.

aboggs, The first step here
aboggs,
The first step here is to resolve the error codes that are set.
PO153
PO171
PO174
Just a reminder, but the above are error codes. Nothing is going to happen or change until these codes are resolved. Note that clearing the "MIL" (turning off the check engine light) does not resolve the codes. So with the above being said post in detail ALL you have done to resolve the codes?
Aboggs, Your problem SCREAMS
Aboggs,
Your problem SCREAMS vacuum leak. That's not to say that it is for sure but the codes you have given us indicate that a vacuum leak is something to check for. Don't let anyone talk you into replacing the 02 sensors until a vacuum leak has been ruled out. You might also want to check fuel pressure, volume and delivery.
Let us know if you need help performing any tests. Thanks.
