do you know the diag. code the engin light set. it would be the place to start. if you can get it to advance auto/auto zone, they will scan it for you for free. do that and let us know the code.
they don't even know where to hook up the scannner on this model mercury. no place for OB 1 scanner to fit on that.
they should have a scanner for around $30.00-50.00, i'd pick one up. it may take you a few trys to get it down and read codes good, but it will be worth it. if you sell the car, put it on ebay. anyway it'l cost you $80.00-90.00 at dealer. it could be the idle air valve, the the code would make it closer diag. let us know p.s. you have checked all vacuum lines, right?
Yes I replaced one vacuum line that was cracked. I've got an obd 11 but that doesn't work. Also have an eec 1v and there is no place to plug it in. book gives me 2 different locations where they would be but this older scanner does not fit it. This vehicle was made by ford and nissan.
