do you have a timming light?
yes i have a sunpro light w/ advance. Ive had this car for about 2 months and cant figure out the base timing. There is a pointer off the block & 6 un numbered marks on the crank pulley. I think TDC is between the 3rd & 4th mark. any help would be appreciated, I have a Haynes manual but as you probably know it is pretty vauge & generic. Thanks for your help and God bless.
yes

Ok thanks alot, I am at work anyhow. Have a good day.
I am new to this web site & also not very handy with a computer. Talk to you later
here you go, if you need any thing eles let me know. mws919
IGNITION TIMING
Start the engine and warm it up until the water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge.
Operate the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes under no load.
Disconnect the throttle sensor connector.
Idle engine and check timing. Timing should be 10°±2°BTDC. If not proceed to step 5.
Idle engine and adjust the ignition timing to 10°±2°BTDC by turning the distributor after loosening the securing bolt.
Turn the engine off.
Reconnect the throttle sensor connector.
mws919 thank you very much. I get off work in about an hour & I will give that a try when I get home. I had an issue with the engine smoking & burning excessive amounts of oil, fortuneatley it was only the crankcase breather gasket under the valve cover allowing oil to be scavenged under the baffle & into the PVC line right into the intake. Have a good day & thanks for the help and God bless!
good luck and let me know. mws919
