Basically speaking: "The Sky
Basically speaking:
"The Sky Is The Limit" !!!!
How much of a budget are you working with?
about 1,000 bucks
about 1,000 bucks
There are many parts
There are many parts available. Decide you budget restriction and/or 1/4 mile times that you desire and let us know. Don't start a build without this type of info in mind.
In the short term advance the ignition timing about 2 degrees. It'll add some power--drive it and see!
thanks
thanks
one good tip, install
one good tip, install performance parts one at a time, that way if one isn't working right, you'll know right away witch one.
i've see people install a doz. parts at once and then it'll run like sh#t and they have no clue just what part failed them.
thanks.....
thanks.....
An engine always runs better
An engine always runs better when it can "breath" better. An aftermarket cold air induction system can add up to 50 horses, depending on the manufacturer, and can be had for anywhere between 100 and 400 bucks. Try K&N. More power can also be gained by opening the exhaust with an aftermarket system. Edelbrock and Flowmaster are good choices. Like the previous two men have said, the sky is the limit and it all depends on what you want to spend. Decide what you want the car to do,different parts and combinations are designed to do specific things, whats ideal for drag racing may not be good for circles, and so on. ASE MASTER has extensive racing experience,by the way. Have fun!

Thanks Jess,
BTW:
"NEVER EVER USE ANY K&N PRODUCT" !!!!
thanks.. iam glad 2 c iam not
thanks.. iam glad 2 c iam not the only 1 that dont like k&N product.......
Why?
Why?
an underdrive pulley kit is
an underdrive pulley kit is pretty simple and cheap, just remember that it will also change rpm of alt,a/c,ect. and some kits come w/alt pulley.Put a different gear in the rear for pretty cheap too about 500 for a 4.88 combo kit plus install. but for bolt on you cant beat pulleys and air delivery kits, since higher gear will create loss of traction and sticky tires will probably blow the tranny or w/stock motor not really have enough h.p. to move like it should.why not just put a 50 shot nitrous kit on and have it when ya want it.
ok 4.88 rearend dont u think
ok 4.88 rearend dont u think that 2 much a 4.88 gear thats drag racing. aint trying 2 do it all like that, meant sumthing like 3.55 gears, cold air intake system, wicked flow straight thou high perforance mufflers, speed chip module,65mm throttle body. can sumbody tell me if i upgrade my backend exhuast pipe to 3inchs is that morepower, deeper tuning,etc.......
thanks.....
thanks.....
Jess, “K&N” makes universal
Jess,
“K&N” makes universal and vehicle specific products. As with all K&N products, the issue of “Not Coding for Errors” is the problem. Take the vehicle below for example:
1994 S-10 Blazer 4.3 TBI.
The “MAF” sensor on the above is designed to operate within “Specific Parameters”. The installation of a K&N air filter or fresh air intake doesn’t address (or simply ignores) those parameters.
Intalling an "Oil Soaked" air filter will only "Compound" the issue of "Not Coding For Errors" !!!!
As a result:
Drivability and performance issues occur.
Spark plugs get fouled.
Fuel economy drops off.
Codes are set.
False ambient air issues occur.
Oxygen sensor issues occur.
Destruction of “MAF” sensor occurs.
On carbureted vehicles K&N air filters often cause PCV issues, which result in an “Air Cleaner” loading up with motor oil.
phonsolilpe, Successful "Auto
phonsolilpe,
Successful "Auto Repair" is nothing more than the:
"Simple Application of "Common Sense and Logic" !!!!
Furthermore, (and as with anything) "In Life",
"There is just "Simply" (No Sustitute)for "Experience".
That "Being Said", "I Cannot Agree" with the "Add-on's" and "Modifications" mentioned by "lilric".
I CAUTION YOU AGANIST THEM !!!!
Thanks again Sam for the info
Thanks again Sam for the info on K&N. I didnt know any of that. does that just apply to K&N or all makers.
You're welcome Jess
You're welcome Jess !!!
"Anytime" Buddy !!!
Yes it is only "K&N" products !!!
Their "Paper" filters have "Improved" a little, but not to the "Point" where "They Have Me Sold".
DEFINETALLY STAY AWAY FROM FROM THE (foam) and (oil soaked) filters !!!
WHEN IT COMES TO OIL AND AIR FILTERS !!!
Just Remember !!!
"Purolator Pure One"
Don't believe the "Hype" about a "Fresh Air Intake" increasing "Horsepower" by "50 to 100 horses".
THAT'S PURE "BS" !!!
It's more "Like" (2 to 4) "Horsepower".
"Horsepower" has to be "Built".
Once built it get "Installed" (Mechanically and physically) into the engine.
Semper Fidelis
Sam

To take advantage of any
To take advantage of any "enhanced breathing" work you do, a better exhaust is needed, otherwise the true potential won't be realized.
check out the exhaust systems at Borla, flow mater, and walker

thanks....
well, i see that all the
well, i see that all the turbos in the world make no sense at all increasing the air/fuel mixture, thank you ase master for bringing this to attention. So i found a site that should clarify the "bolt on" issue, ironically enough it is about a 94 stang also:http://www.summitracing.com/expertadvice/search/techquestions/?keyword=air%20intake%20kit&product=Air%20and%20Fuel
here is another, but only up
here is another, but only up to 93 mustang. http://www.summitracing.com/expertadvice/professoroverdrive/default.aspx?techQuestion=780
the point is there is no
the point is there is no cheap way to make outrageous h.p. or torque except with serious machining and cash. But it doesnt seem like that is what your after judging by you question. If you just wanna burn the tires buy a steeper gear and some balonies for tires and have at it. I hope the articles are helpful as allow you to gain a different perspective on improving for every day driving or donuts all day long on the back 40.
Ok ladies, This is “Just
Ok ladies,
This is “Just Off The Top” of my head.
I “Purposely” made a “Mistake”.
For “Extra Credit”;
Any “Takers” on what the “Mistake” might be ?

It seems like a BBC 502ci. But the valve diameters are too small. Am I right?
2.08/1.60 are SBC
2.08/1.60 are SBC valves,correct?
Or is it a 408" small block
Or is it a 408" small block with a very high lift cam?
