1. Test the fuel injectors
1. Test the fuel injectors bank resistance. Should be 2.1 ohms minimum cold engine, 2.2-2.3 ohms hot engine. Test for internal meter resistance and subtract from the resistance between terminals.
2. Test individual injector resistance. Should be approximately 12 ohms cold, approximately 13 ohms hot, all within 0.2 ohms highest to lowest.
3. Test individual injectors amp draw during the problem conditions. Should be 1.0 to 0.9 amps.
4. Test Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor output cranking.
5. Scan the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) data for being incorrect, inconsistent operation.
Potential Causes:
Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
Injectors
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Tech Tips:
The PCM may indicate incorrect or inconsistent Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, TPS, system voltage, RPM or Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) values during a failure. This is typically a failure of the PCM, the inputs to the PCM are correct.
Also a crank sensor could be the issue
Remove the plug wires at the ignition coils and crank the engine. Check for spark tower to tower. Test the crank sensor resistance and a/c voltage output at the ignition module connector. Resistance should be 600-1500 ohms, a/c volt output, when cranking, should be over 700 mv.
