how does it drive, besides
how does it drive, besides braking?
Rides great. No pulling when
Rides great. No pulling when braking, or wheel shake. No drag on truck as if caliper were sticking. Only problem is a slight vibration at 80 mph. I can let go of wheel when braking, and wheel does not move at all, nor does vehicle pull in either direction. Its just like the front brakes are grabbing and releasing through the hole braking cycle, more noticable just before stopping, when you can actually see the truck stop and go. Thought it was rotors, so replaced rotors and pads, and now it seems more noticable. Checked end of hubs for any high spots to make sure rotors are seated flush are running true. and no problem there. I've changed pads 100's of times, and never had this problem. Toally stumped.
Check/grease the caliper
Check/grease the caliper piston. and or ckeck break line
did you check your back
did you check your back breaks I dont know if you
have drums on the back check both pistons see if their leaking
Now I have another problem.
Now I have another problem. Caliper slider bolt was replaced previously with oversize self tapper , and it stripped out when I tried to tighten it. Is there a way to fix this without replacing whole casting.
Fixed casting with heli-coil,
Fixed casting with heli-coil, and yes, after all this work on the front, it is coming from the back breaks. Used the emergency break. Now have to find out if I have a bad axle seal, or if the drums are out of round. Anything else anyone can think of that could cause this grab and release from rear breaks. Shoes, drums, break cylinders, and all springs and hardware replaced 8 months ago.
how often do you open the
how often do you open the resevoir on the master cylinder to replace brake fluid? if you didnt clean he cap before removing dust or other contaminents could have fallen into the fluid. maybe this could cause youre problem? trying having your brake lines bled and replace the fluid all together
Found out my back drums must
Found out my back drums must be out of round, because it happens when I depress emergency brake. No fluid leakage inside either drum compartment to contaminate shoes. so probably poor drum material. Drums only 8 months old, as is proportioning valve. Will change shoes and drums and let you know. Every piece of rear brake hardware replaced 8 months ago also.
replace brake calipers and
replace brake calipers and hoses.
Did that already. As I wrote
Did that already. As I wrote before, it happens when I depress the emergency break, so it's coming from the back. Thanks
