Possible Causes Setting Conditions
* Base engine problem affecting only one cylinder (e.g., low compression)
* Check for air leaks in the Air Induction system (e.g., in the intake manifold)
* Check for air leaks in the EGR system and in its related hoses and/or valve
* Check for air leaks in the PCV system and in its related hoses and/or valve
* CKP/CMP sensor signals erratic
* EVAP canister problem (e.g., canister is saturated with dirt, moisture or fuel)
* Fuel injector problem (e.g., a dirty, restricted or leaking fuel injector)
* Fuel pressure too low or too high, fuel supply contaminated
* Ignition system problem (e.g., a defective spark plug, plug wire or ignition coil)
DTC P0101, P0102, P0102, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0131-P0141, P0151-P0161 not set; engine speed from 500-6,440 rpm, IAT signal more than -22ºF, engine running under no-load conditions, vehicle speed more than 3 mph, and the PCM detected irregular CKP sensor signals indicating a misfire in Cylinder 1 during the 200-revolution or the 1,000-revolution test. If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!
This code sets in 2 Trip(s).
This code will turn on the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)
1. Check the alignment of the timing belt. These are common codes to set after a timing belt replacement and one of the cams being a tooth off.
2. Check for a weak timing belt tensioner. Also when the tensioner is installed, make sure that the manual part of the tensioner is adjusted, so that the belt is pulled tight and when the release pin is removed, the tensioner plunger should not move much at all.
