2006 GMC YUKON DENALI REAR DOOR

WARNING COMES ON "REAR HATCH DOOR OPEN" WHEN START UP SUV EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS SHUT. CAN NOT LOCATE SENSOR AND WOULD LIKE TO FIND TO REPLACE OR BYPASS

J, You stated the door is

J,

You stated the door is shut:

But are you able to lock it?
Does it open and lock via the remote?
Does it open and lock via the key?

Does opening and closing the door one or more times make a difference?

Have you checked with a dealer for a recall or TSB?

There is no sensor to bypass or replace. The door sensing switch is built into the body lock (aka power door lock actuator). The switch is a non service part, and secondary to connection (and or) circuit issues, you may have to replace the power door lock actuator. Pull the inner door panel and check the wire connection at the switch. Make sure the connection is on tight and it's clean. While you have the panel off and the door open lock the actuator with the door open. If the warning still comes on replace the actuator.
