91 grand am engine starts and runs until I turn headlights on then it dies and its interfering with the charging system. What do I look for to repair this problem?

have the charging system checked at autozone. If the alternator isn't working, then the car is running off of battery power, when the battery gets weak it can't supply power for both the ignition system and the headlights so that is why the engine cuts off when you turn on the headlights.

The charging system has been checked and double checked. You were right about the low batt, but Im still having trouble with that car. I put the alt and batt in another car and ran with them for a week with no troubles. And the fusible links have all tested good. It just seems to be that specific car. Any suggestions?
