Car cuts out on right turns.

Last week, when my 2003 Buick Century, was cold and when I made a right turn, the engine would go out. The gas gauge hasn't worked for years. I just fill up the tank and keep track of my mileage. So, I thought I ran out of gas. I got into the corner station and filled up. I was close to empty, so when it did it a couple times for about 5 minutes. I thought maybe the fuel pump sucked up something. The rest of the week, it did cut out occasionally, in the morning, when cold, and I made a right turn. Today, it seems to get worse. What do you think it is? Fuel filter and pump or something else?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Dan,

Could be a number of different things. Easy things first.

Major tune-up if not recently done.
Replace fuel filter if not recently done.
Replace air filter if not recently done.
Rule out vacuum leaks.
Post the results of a fuel pressure test.
Try a few applications of "Sea-Foam".

If you're in the habit of lettin the level in the fuel tank go below half or near empty before you fill-up, then stop doin that and start fillin up at the half-way mark. Also don't use cheap gas. In the long run it's gonna cost you big time. Start usin a a "Top Tier" fuel.

Ignore the "Check Engine Light". Do a scan for error codes even if the light is off. A scan is free at Auto Zone, so you got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Post any codes that Auto Zone reads for you so we can see them.
