check engine flashing
i have a car model 1998 nissan presage imported from japan. my problem is whenever i ran for about 90kms or more, the check engine on my panel flashes and i lost power and reduced automatically my speed to 60kms/hour even how hard i push the gas pedal. now, what i do is to turn my engine off then turn it on and the check engine flashing goes off. but running again some kilometers, the check engine flashes again. so i have to stop again, turn off the engine, then turn on. i have to do this cycle so many times before i reach my destination and i felt very annoying. what is the possible solution to this problem? please help..

Poly, The flashing check
Poly,
The flashing check engine light means that the catalytic converter has failed. It failed because of a long neglected cylinder misfire.
Prior to the light flashing how long were you driving with the check engine light on steady (not flashing) and how long did you drive with it on and just ignore it?
the check engine indicator
the check engine indicator never lighted steady. just flashing when i drove about an hour or reaching a distance of 90kilometers.that is for the first flashing. then i turned off the engine, turned on,check engine flashing out also but after reaching a distance of 15kilometer, check engine flashed again.that is always the scenario.
Poly, Scan the computer for
Poly,
Scan the computer for trouble codes and post them back here. Autozone should be able to scan them for free.
Let us know what you find. We'll be glad to help. Thanks
Poly, When you go to Auto
Poly,
When you go to Auto Zone to have the codes read be sure to write them down (so you don't forget them) as they appear. (example PO302). Then post them here so we can see them. Note that there may be more than one code. It doesn't matter. Post all the codes that are set.
