clanking

I have a 2001 Hyundai GLS with only 33000 miles. This morning I started the car and for 15 seconds a loud clanking noise came from under the hood. Noise ceased after a few seconds. Oil and transmission levels normal?

check all pulleys / belt / fans - something is hitting and will do it again and damage will be done.

Bob, Simply stated but

Bob,

Simply stated but honestly put all Hyundai’s are Shit. The last clanging sound I had to deal with on a Hyundai was a failed heat shield around the catalytic converter, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be an upper valve train noise, or a water pump problem for that matter. Post any (and all) driveability and performance problems that are associated with the clanging sound. (Runnin hotter or overheatin for example). If none, then are you able to make a You Tube video of the sound and post it?
