I have a 1997 Silverado Chevrolet pickup. Lately, it has been making a roaring sound. The tires were replaced, the sound is still there. Had new bearins put in wheels. That still didn't work. Do you know what the problem is?

check your radiator cooling fan clutch - it should spin free when cold and stiff when engine is hot.

is the noise there wile the truck is not moving? if it is only when moving, does it come on or go away with load, ie- when giving it gas, or letting off gas. if so check the differential oil. it may be a ring and pinion problem.

Took truck back to mechanic

Took truck back to mechanic who changed the bearings, etc. He said to just drive the truck, it would take a while for the noise to stop. He couldn't find anything else wrong.

no abnormal noise will get better, only worse. did you check the differentials? if the noise is constant a good mechanic will find it, may be time to find one.
