I have a 2000 M-Class Mercedes SUV and have had to repair it very often. The latest mystery is that it sometimes won't start. Sounds like the fuel pump is not working but if I wait a few minutes, it starts. Any suggestions?

May be security relates if it limits your attempts to start it.

Can you hear the fuel pump running when you try to start it? (may have to remove gas cap and listen as someone tries to start it).

Kinda sound like a loose connection--check the fuel pump and ignition fuses and relays, make sure that they are making good connections in their sockets.
