i'd say to a chemical test on
i'd say to a chemical test on rad. to see if exhaust gases are leaking into the coolant system.
call some parts stores for the test kit, it's easy to do.
if it turns color the heads will have to come off for insp.
if you see some tiny cracks just around the valve seats, they aren't the cause, more than likely it'll be the gasket shot.
Rip, Sorry, but what you're
Rip,
Sorry, but what you're saying here is not adding up. Post the results of a "Compression Test". If you want to take this to the next level (TO BE REALLY SURE) post the results of a "Cylinder Leak Down Test", (IN ADDITION TO THE COMPRESSION TEST). Letting us know if the "Electrodes" on the plugs are "Coolant Fouled" would also be a good thing.
i know thry have the
i know thry have the compression test kits at auto store but what about the cylinder leak down test? and are they hard to do? wont the compression test tell me if the head is cracked?
no it may not, it will just
no it may not, it will just tell you if pressure is low.
most cracks donn't cause too much compression loss.
most shops send the cylinder heads out to be crack tested, but some cracks can be seen, you just have to know what to look for.
your not saying it runs poor so it sounds like a small amount of exhaust gas getting into the cooling system.
how does it start after sitting a while?
it starts just fine
it starts just fine

rip,
Understand that mws919 and I are trying to help you. It's ok to ask questions. We expect questions, and we welcome them. Just understand that at some point you have to stop asking questions, and post the results of the tests we are asking you to do. Remember. This is online auto repair. We don't have your Taurus in front of us. We can't run any tests on it. Without your feedback (IN THE FORM OF ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS) your Taurus will (NEVER) get fixed. Another route you can take is to have a sample of your engine coolant analyzed by a "Professional" radiator repair shop. they will be able to tell you if combustion gases are present in your coolant. If you go that route, post the results. Let us know what's going on.
ok will run test sorry im

I believe that autozone rents
I believe that autozone rents akit to test for exhaust gases in the coolant--this would help you diagnose or eliminate some possibilities. Call them to see if they rent these kits.
When you rent form them, you'll get all of your money back when you take the tool back---not sure if it's the same for this kit.

Great! Next time you have the cooling system drained, be sure to bleed the air out of the system to avoid this.
