I opened my car door and noticed that the "ding ding ding" noise was at a quicker pace than usual. I got in and tried to start my (1997 Oldsmobile Aurora) and it wouldn't turn over. Tried jumping it, and started to turn over and lights started flashing

The lights started flashing

The lights started flashing on the dashboard, but the car wouldn't start. I know the car was kind of low on gas, but not low enough for the low fuel light to come on. One of my friends thinks it is the starter, which i just got the wiring fixed on it a month ago, and another friend thinks it is the battery. What do you guys think? I tried jumping it for a good fifteen minutes. I'm terrible when it comes to cars so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Oops i forgot to mention that
