I owe a 2003 CHevy Silverado V-8, MY truck keeps shutting off while I am driving. I have checked the battery & alternator and they are fine. Any suggestions?

is there a check engin light

is there a check engin light on?

no the check engine light is

no the check engine light is not on

check your ignition switch

check your ignition switch

does it restart right away?

does it restart right away?

yes it starts right back up

yes it starts right back up and run great but than just shuts off. There are no noises or anything before hand. It just quits

check all eletrical

check all eletrical connections - wiggle your ignition, check it to see if it get hot.

are you decelerating,

are you decelerating, acelerating, or steady throttle load when it happens?

It happens when I am

It happens when I am acelerating or just coasting. I thought it might have been something to do with the battery/ altanator but it happens during random times

ok, this a 03 and monitored

ok, this a 03 and monitored in every moduel in the truck's network, so if one had a event, it's got a code. the eng. light. comes on only for a emission related event. "standerd obd2 emissions". a code in body mod. may not set the light, and for this, you'll need a gm tech2 scan tool. the ignition switch run/start modes are body function, not ecm emissions. anyway what i'm saying is, dealer. you might save some money with out doing the guessing. and if they charge you one hour diag.. and replace a part and it's not fixed, pay no more and demand your frist money's worth of diag. it works, i know i work at one, at best pay only for parts cost.
