try this first; turn the lights on, have partner to watch the lights as you try to start the engine. if the lights go out the battery needs charging. If they stay bright, you have a bad connection at the battery cables---either at the battery (clean ad tighten both), or at the starter (check for tightness) and check the NEG cable where it connects to the engine (clean and tighten it).
