There is a fuse and probably
There is a fuse and probably a relay, too, in the airbag elec. system. Please do not try to bypass them or even mess with the airbag system at all. You are taking your life and the lives of everyone who ever rides in or drives that van in your inexperenced hands. The result could cost somebody dear to you serious problem like being in a wheelchair for the rest of their life (if they are lucky). And in most states you could end up in jail for being an idot! The van would not even have to be involved in an accident for someone to be left with a lot of pain and regret. An air bag going off at the wrong time can kill a small child. And one that doesn't go off when in's needed, well you ought to know what that can cause. Please take your van to somebody and pay whatever they ask to repair it right. It will be a bargin compared to what will happen if you don't. And you will be able to sleep better, too.
the van probably got into an
the van probably got into an accident before or it has a blown airbag fuse. this light cannot be turned off unless the problem is fixed. ( or the bulb is removed)
you need to take it to a
you need to take it to a dealer that can scan you car an tell you the exact part that is causing the light to come on it will cost around 75 to 100$ to have them find the problem but with that light on your air bags WILL NOT GO OFF IF YOUR IN A WRECK
Autozone or advance auto can
Autozone or advance auto can scan you computer for codes. Let them know that the airbag light is on. Keep in mind that the codes basically get you in the right area to diagnose the problem. simply because the codes indicates a certain sensor doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad (and replacing it will fix the problem). there is a diagnostic process which must be followed to insure that it's repaired properly (accurately).
sorry to say this i work at a
sorry to say this i work at a AUTO BODY SHOP and i have been there for 4 years and no part store scaner will read air bag codes it a dealer scaner only i do a lot of air bags the problem can be for the front impact sensors to the air bag control modle to the seat belt(s) the clock spring (located in the steering wheel) or a simple broken air bag wire or an unpluged air bag just hope it was repaired(the car) and the air bag(s) and or the componets were replaced as well I have fixed cars where they come in for the same reason because it was fixed at anouther shop and did a poor job fixing the car and come to find out they just replaced the air bag covers and that was it the owner was so mad
Wasn't aware of parts store
Wasn't aware of parts store scanner limitations, I use a MODIS. Thanks for the info Jason.
