Auto Repair Manuals

My brake lights aren't working when applying brake. Fuse new. A "ring" fell off from somewhere around the brake pedal a few weeks ago.The lights just quit working after a heavy rain a couple of days ago. Electrical or ring problem? Or what?

sounds like your brake switch backed out of it's bracket. if you look behind the brake pedal lever you will see a bracket with a hole in it, the ring goes in from the back side of the bracket, then you should see the switch hangging fron it's wire. one end of the switch will have a spring loaded plunger on it. that plunger goes throu the ring. you will have to push it in until the plunger contacks the lever. at that point push the switch in until the plunger slides all the way in to the switch. now when you push the brake pedal the plunger will slide out and brake lights will come on. let us know how you make out
