you said, it's a drain. so check for a batt. draw. with every thing shut off, and keys in your pocket. remove the neg. batt. cable and install a test light between the cable and the neg.term. if it's lit than you have a draw. now remove one fuse at a time until the light goes off. that fuse's circuit is where the draw is comming from. put the fuses back every time you check one, that way they will all be back where they go correctly. now all you've got to do is check each load on that fuse. if you need more help, let us know. mws919 p.s. if it has a hood light disconnect it or remove bulb.
As I said in my question there is a 12 volt draw between the neg. cable and neg. battery post. I've pulled fuses one at a time and the test light between neg. post and neg. cable doesn't go out. No accessory lights, etc. are staying on. The generator is charging the battery. What do you suggest I check next?
when you removed each fuse, you got out of the car and closed the door each time? if not the door light switch kept the test light on. every circuit has a fuse, the only thing that doesn't is the sense wire to alt. unplug and remove wires on alt. and try agin. careful with the hot wire on alt. because the batt. is still connected.
No door light was on while pulling fuses. When I disconnected wire (marked FLO) from alt. the test light between neg battery post and neg cable went out. Thinking that indicated the alt. I replaced alt. and the new one does the same.
if you have a hood light take that bulb out so you test the fuses
