sterring wheel shimmies when hitting a bump at 70 mph

I am driving a 2004 Nissan Armada. Tires balanced and front end aligned already. When driving 70mph and I hit a bump in the road, the steering wheel starts to shimmy. What is causing that?

rockandroll4711,

Shimmy at 70 mph. What is causing that?

Since there is pretty much an endless number of things that could be causing the shimmy, I'm going to start you off with the most most obvious and what is easy first. Loose, broken, or distorted front end suspension parts would be the first things to rule out. If after ruling them out the issue continues then let me know and I'll post more things for you to check. You should also know that the individual who did your alignment could have dropped the ball. In other words there are individuals who know how to do alignments, then there are idiots, then there are those that have the eyesight of Stevie Wonder.
