Kc, Is the engine light on?
Kc,
Is the engine light on? If so you can have the codes scanned for free at Autozone and post them here.
Did this problem occur before the trans work?
Since I can't hear the noise it is hard to say for sure what is causing your problem but the first thing that comes to mind is an EGR system problem. If the EGR passages are clogged or if the EGR valve doesn't open properly (for any reason) this will increase combustion chamber temperatures and cause what is commonly refered to as spark knock (detonation). This is the same noise you hear if you use the wrong octane fuel, if the ignition timing is too advanced or if the engine is overheating. Does this sound like this might be what you are trying to convey as far as the noise is concerned?
Post back with more info or questions. We'll be glad to help. Thanks.
engine light is not on. the
engine light is not on. the problem occur after the transmission was installed
i took the truck to the
i took the truck to the muffler place. they found a bolt broken on the front of the manifold on the passenger side
Kc, Still one question above
Kc,
Still one question above left unanswered but the first thing I would do, if I were you, is take it back to the trans shop and give them the opportunity to double check their work. You might also ask them their opinion on what could be causing the noise and post their answer(s) back here. This might give us a little better idea of what kind of noise you are hearing.
Kc, I see that you have
Kc,
I see that you have posted again. You mentioned the muffler shop. If there is a broken exhaust manifold bolt this could cause an exhaust leak which might only be audible to you when the engine is under load. Did the muffler shop confirm a leak there?
he noise has quite
he noise has quite somewhat, know the engine light is on. i had the code check and it came up as P0442.
Kc, For PO442 let's try
Kc,
For PO442 let's try something easy first. That is to replace the gas cap. When you install the cap turn it on till it clicks a minimum of 6 times. As you're turning it on push down hard on it. Now clear the code and just drive the truck normally, and let us know is the code comes back.
code did not come back.
code did not come back. replace the gas cap, rattle noise still there under load, also where is the egr value located.
Kc, The EGR has nothing to do
Kc,
The EGR has nothing to do with the rattling. Don't waste your time or money on replacing it. For the rattling get the truck on a lift and up in the air, and check for anything loose under the truck. A couple of examples are exhaust hangers and heat shields.
put truck on lift nothing
put truck on lift nothing loose second time another shop found the broken bolt on manifold. the sound is like the lifters. this noise only comes when its under a load. any more thoughts
Kc, I'm gonna try this
Kc,
I'm gonna try this again.

yes
yes
Kc, You say the answer is
Kc,
You say the answer is yes. Why is it that you hesitate to fix the obvious?
its being done on tuesday
its being done on tuesday will let you know.
Kc, Good deal. Let us know
Kc,
Good deal. Let us know how it turns out. Thanks.
well did the exhaust fix all
well did the exhaust fix all leaks. still have the noise. when sitting idle and give it some gas no noise, when i am driving giving gas the noise appear any help.
Kc, I never got a clear
Kc,
I never got a clear response from you regarding my very first posting. If you did respond to that, I missed it. Is that the type of noise you are trying to describe?
In my second posting I recommended that you take it back to the transmission shop. I don't recall a response from that either. Did you? If so, what did they say?
The video link below has the sound of spark knock in it. It's unfortunate, that the person making the video, obviously doesn't have a clue how to make his car act up for the video but it can be heard at about 10 seconds and then again at about 31.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiBzxxvy3FQ
Let us know if that's the noise you hear. You might also consider posting your own Youtube video so we can hear the noise. Thanks.
Kc, What you said is
Kc,
What you said is below.
(You said) still have the noise.
There are quite a few posts from you about this "Noise".
We could have helped you resolve this "Noise" a long time ago if:
We knew what this "Noise" sounded like?
I realize you are NOT:
"The Brightest Bulb In The Chandelier",
But do you think you could possibly post a "You Tube Video" so we can watch it, and help you to make this "Noise" go away?
nothing wrong at
nothing wrong at transmission. this noise sound like a lifter noise. it now comes only when i give it gas while driving. i tired the you tube thing but the noise you will not be able to hear.
Kc, Look man we're really not
Kc,
Look man we're really not gonna be able to help unless you try to narrow down this sound. Remember you're there and we're here. We don't have your truck in front of us. You're are hands an eyes here. If you now think this is an "Internal Engine Sound" then you gotta check it out and let us know. Tell us what you see and hear with the valve cover off. Here's a link that will help. Post all your findings and the results of any tests you do so we can see them.
