ya, you will have to rotate the cam until the 2 valves for the cylinder that you are testing are both closed and pump air in to cylinder. if you have never done something like it befor, i would have a shop check it.

believe me if its a interference engine there will be no question - the noise from the engine will let you know.

ya, jerryh20 has pretty much hit it on the head and the valve has hit the piston.
