What would cause my Blazer to hesitate and act as if it had no power, then kind of backfire, resulting in the power to be regained. The problem is worse when it rains, the car will barely run. Also when I put it in reverse, it will somtimes stall.

Sounds like you have spark
Sounds like you have spark plug wire issues, especially when you say its worst when it rains. start your vehicle and using a spray bottle mix a little salt with water and spray the wires while the vehicle is running. If you see a light show you know it's time to replace your wires. Might as well replace the spark plugs, and if the vehicle is equipped with a distributer, replace the cap and rotor also.
