what would cause my car to faulter while running i think its eather timing belt or spark plugs but im not sure

its weird it runs fine then i tunr it off and on again and it starts sputtering and mifireing.and then it will go away at times ...could it be something blocking the air or fule or spark i have no clue where to start

pos. a leaking fuel injector. does it blow black smoke wile it's stumbling?
