why wont my car start

my 1987 delta 88 will not start. it turns over but that is it i have changed the fuel filter, battery , alternator, spark plugs, coil packs. had the ignition mod tested and changed the crankshaft sensor and still nothing .. what else could it be?

Dp, As you are figuring out

Dp,

As you are figuring out there a number of things that can cause a vehicle to fail to start but here are some of the the basic requirements:

Proper ignition (spark)
Proper fuel pressure and delivery
Proper vacuum pressure
Proper compression
Proper exhaust back pressure

Which one (or more) of these are you lacking?
Do you know how to determine what is lacking?

We don't know your backround and ability or what you checked and ruled out (other than the parts you've installed).

Post back here with more info. We'll be glad to help.
Thanks.

Hello dpmeriden, In addition

Hello dpmeriden,

In addition to what’s already been posted here are some additional things for you to rule in or out. The 3.8 liter engine in your Delta 88 uses a timing chain as opposed to a timing belt. Timing belts can stretch and stretching can cause an engine to JUMP TIME which can cause a no start condition. Additional, a timing chain can break which can cause a no start condition as well. So that being said, obviously you are going to either rule in or rule out a timing chain issue.

Additional items to rule in or rule out:

A weak battery with an insufficient charge that is not capable of delivering enough voltage to create spark.

Any blown fuses, circuit breakers or fusible links.
A failed PCM

Fuel injectors that are not firing

Thank You
Helene
