1997 honda accord speedometer problem
1997 honda accord speedometer quit working when i got into my car after going to the store, once i came out headed home the speedometer quit working but the rpm is still working, a few minutes later while driving the engine light came on.so do you think this is an eletronic problem or a cable disconnected or a bad cable possibly.

Hello Ian, The MIL came on
Hello Ian,
The MIL came on because that's it's job. It's telling you that the ECM is storing at least one error code, and for that matter there could be more than one stored error code. Based on the signs and symptoms you are describing, I would say that you have a failed speed sensor (or sensors). On the other hand guessing with your Honda and your money is not fair to you. Don't buy or replace any parts at this time. Instead drive to the nearest Auto Zone store and have the ECM scanned for any error codes. THE SCAN IS FREE. Write down the code (or codes) so you don't forget it (or them), then post the codes.

It's most likely a speed sensor/sensor wiring issue. Have the codes scanned on the computer and post them back here. Autozone (and most other parts stores) will scan codes for free.
