THX JERRY BUT A SLIM JIM WON'T DO IT. IT IS "ALL" ELEC. NO KEY ENTRY WHATSOEVER. SLIM JIM WILL NOT ACCESS RELEASE MECHANISM. ONLY WAY TO GET TO LATCH MECHANISM IS THROUGH INSIDE TRIM AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM... GETTING THE TRIM PANEL OFF. THANKS FOR POSTING THOUGH.

I had that exact problem with my Jimmy. Unfortunately, the only solution was to get another door. Bought a used one for $350. My mechanic (who I trust completely and who has worked on my Jimmy for a long time), told me he could get it open, but it wouldn't shut tight again.

Procedures
Manual Override Description - Liftgate
If the vehicle loses battery power, or if the liftgate window power release electrical circuit is interrupted, you may open the liftgate window manually from inside of the vehicle.
Perform the following procedure:
Release the liftgate window before opening the liftgate.
Peel back the edge of the carpet slightly in order to expose the access hole in the trim panel. Begin peeling at the upper center of the carpet on the liftgate trim panel.
Reach through the access hole with a screwdriver in order to move the release lever toward the passenger side of the vehicle.
Open the liftgate using the liftgate handle.
Secure the loosened carpet to the liftgate trim panel.
