2000 GMC Jimmy-I have no ac in truck now, but when driving it sounds like there is water trying to come up from my dashboard when I give the truck gas. Could this be my evaporator for my ac? Please help!

the water sound is comming
the water sound is comming from the heater core, must have low coolant in system. the evap. core. doesnn't make noise. does the a/c compressor click on when you turn it on? has any work been done on it lately? let us know. mws919
