located in housing on engine - the top radiator hose is attached to it - drain enough coolant to avoid running from housing when removed - do this when engine is cool/cold - remove hose at engine - remove the housing - remove thermostat and gasket - clean engine and housing - install new thermostat and gasket - reattach hose - top off with coolant - check for leaks.
