2004 Dodge Hemi stalling while driving
I have a Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi. Last Friday (first really cold day this winter) i was on my way to work and got about 1/4 mile down the road doing about 25-30mph and the truck started to stall (as in the RPM would drop and go back up and then drop agian and go back up and so on.) I parked it 2 mins later and didnt start it agian until the following monday and it has ran fine until today (Wed.) started doing the same thing just not quite as bad. but the check engine light did come on and i got these codes....
(2) P0404
Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit
Range/Performance
(1) P0406Exhaust gas recirculation sensor
A circuit high
(2) P0113
Intake air temp sensor
circuit high input
Any help on what i should check/replace first would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Paul A.J.

Paul, TSB/REFLASH number
Paul,
TSB/REFLASH number 0802404 will fix it.
Thanks I guess I will have to
Thanks I guess I will have to go to the dealer to get that done?
The dealership "flashed" my truck last year before they replaced my transmission. Would that not have been taken care of at that time?
Hope that makes since I don't quite understand the whole flash thing
Paul, The re-flash you had
Paul,
The re-flash you had done a year for the transmission has nothing to do with your current stalling problem, and you don't necessarily have to go to a dealer for the current stalling TSB. All you need to do is find a REAL ASE MASTER MECHANIC with the necessary tools and equipment and SKILLS who can do the TSB. So you know a re-flash is nothing more than a software up-grade for your trucks PCM.
I am going to have the truck
I am going to have the truck flashed this weekend, and i will repost if it fixed the problem or not. thanks for providing me with the TSB, they said they will look that up and get it in there.
Thanks for the update Paul.
Thanks for the update Paul. Just keep in touch with us, and let us know if you need any further help. 2004 and 2005 hemi trucks have an update (re-flash) to the PCM for "Idle Fluctuation". The TSB (Technical service bulletin) is number 18-013-05 or 18-029-04. I’m not sure of the numbers, because I know longer keep a database of TSB’s and recalls. The numbers I’m quotin you here are purely from memory. Check with a dealer or an ASE Certified Master Mechanic for the exact number (or numbers). Point is, there is a TSB and don’t let anyone BS you into thinking that there isn’t. Wouldn’t hurt to check the transmission fluid checked as well, because a low fluid level can cause an imbalance in the torque converter and cause the TCC (Torque Converter Control Solenoid) to lock up and stall the engine. Other possibilities include a blown out transmission sump filter seal (split filter), or an EGR valve that’s stayin open.
Thanks, The transmission
Thanks,
The transmission fluid is the first thing that i check when this started because of my past trouble with it. Even though i did have a new transmission put in Oct. 2010 - it looked good. the dealer told me to bring the numbers with me when i come this weekend and that they would look them up for me.
Paul (You Said) the dealer

That's why you gotta admire dealers man, I mean what creature walkin the face of the earth could be dumber than a dealer service manager? Look man when you get to the dealership, and you’re talkin to that dumb ass piece of crap manager tell him:
I'M THE CUSTOMER HERE AND IT’S YOUR JOB TO GET THE TSB NUMBERS AND LOOK UP THE TSB’S. IT'S ALSO YOUR JOB TO TELL ME IF A REFLASH IS GONNA RESOLVE MY ISSUE !!!!!
