is there enogh freon in it?
is there enogh freon in it?
is it a auto a/c system?, if so there should be codes stored in the hvac module, they may have to be cleared and module reset.

Yes, the shop pressured the system and it is auto a/c.
did they check for
did they check for diag.codes?
Don't believe so. I was
Don't believe so. I was hoping to be able to take care of it myself. Do you think it could be computer related or switch or can't really tell until you check the codes?
realy donn't think it's a
realy donn't think it's a module problem, pos. pressure switch or wiring.
why was comperssor replaced and have the fuses been checked sence the repair?
if it's a lock up cond. because of stored codes, you can try a batt. disconnect for a min. or so.
The compressor was cuting out
The compressor was cuting out periodically and finally stopped. I assumed the compressor died as the car has 105000 miles. It was replaced along with the drier and did not kick on for the mechanic. I think it is a pressure switch, my problem is I am having a hard time locating the switches to try and jumper it to see if the compressor would kick on. Fuses looked good.

i'm at work now, but can send you all the pics and info you'll need to diag. this, at least what you can do with out a scan tool.
just need a email ad. to send to.
let me know, mws919
That would be good.

Awesome info thanks,what a
Awesome info thanks, what a great site I have found.
I checked the relay, fuses, and switch at the compressor. Tried to jump the switch, but got nothing. So, I am guessing it is one of three things. The PCM is not receiving a signal to kick the a/c on, WOT cutoff is bad (where is this), EATC is bad (not sure where this is). It does have dual auto temp control if that would make a difference, but I am also guessing I am going to need a tester to continue.
Thanks again, David
you've got to watch what you
you've got to watch what you jump, this system is module controled so the smallest short to power or ground on the wrong wire might let some smoke out.
this system works by requests and commands, so when you turn the a/c switch on, it's only a request to the controler to power up or ground the soliniod, coil, relay or what ever, now the controler looks at it's other sensors to see if all cond. are ok for apply, thats the magic of it.
so all you can realy do is power up the coil, relay, ect.. by external wires or check the wiring between the diff. modules,sensors,loads,ect.. connectors, that's why i sent the pin out charts.
use the diagrams to find wire colors and power/ground circuits and the data line.
i check the circuits by connecting a small head light across the isolated wires, that way i know they can carrie at least 15amp loads.
you'll just have to rule out thinks along the way without a scan tool to get readings.
if you have a volt/ohm meter you can check switch continutiy right thru the controler connector.
sounds like you know what you're doing so let us know how you make out.
how you making out?
how you making out?
Has become a bit above me,
Has become a bit above me, will have to take it to the shop. I have built a car from the ground up, but computer stuff I just can't do. Thanks for all your help.
ya, with out a good scan tool
ya, with out a good scan tool to shorten the diag. it's a bitch.
on the same hand it hurt a lot to fork out $5000.00 for a snap on scanner, but i try to make it pay for itself, it's not working fast enogh for my wife thou.
well, we're here if you run into some thing else.
If the compressor install
If the compressor install work was guarenteed, you could take it back to that shop so that they can figure out what's wrong and if it's something they dealt with it should be under warranty.
It is going back to the shop
It is going back to the shop that did the work to see if they can pin point the issue. When I had it there the other day, I remember them saying the compressor wasn't getting a ground. Just remembered that. They just didn't have enough time to look at it.
jumping the ground sounds
jumping the ground sounds easy?
let us know what they come up with.
Good. Let us know what the
