It will start back up, but not immediately. and NO, the check engine light does not come on.

I have a 2005 Navigator also,

I have a 2005 Navigator also, and have the same problem with random stall-outs. The stalls are first noticeable when the steering becomes difficult and nothing happens when the gas pedal pushed. Stall out will happen while in motion at various speeds. I don't know what is wrong, have an appointment tomorrow with a repair shop-- will post what I find out.

START BY APPLYING the video below to your issue.
If after the video, the problem PERSISTS then,

OTHER ambient air issues (not shown in video).
TPS issues (Throttle Position Sensor).
CTS issues (Coolant Temperature Sensor).
Primary and secondary ignition issues.
Ignition misfires.
Cylinder misfires.
Engine vacuum leaks.
Cylinder compression issues.
EGR valve issues.
EGR passageway issues.
Issues with exhaust leaks.

DON’T:

Sign ANY work orders (and or) commit to ANY repairs. I have MUCH MORE repair information for you, but before I post that information I want to know what the shops diagnoses is.

ALSO:

Ignore the “Check Engine Light”. Ignore means you should do a scan for “Engine Error Codes” even if the “Check Engine Light” is off (and or) never came on. SCANS ARE FREE at Auto Zone stores. Have a scan done and post ANY codes that are set so I can see them.
