Jerryh20, Are there any tires
Jerryh20, Are there any tires or rims that are not the factory size? Larger or smaller tires or rims will throw a speedometer off. Are there any error codes?
no codes and stock tires and
no codes and stock tires and rims - just started incorrect reading this morning. no tire changes etc. thanks
Jerry, Instrument
Jerry,
Instrument cluster/speedometer recall. Off the top of my head the number should be 07187A. Check with a dealer to be sure.
thanks i'll check with them.
thanks i'll check with them.
You got it Jerry anytime
You got it Jerry anytime buddy :-).
no recalls per dealer
no recalls per dealer
Jerry, The dealer could be
Jerry,
The dealer could be doing what they do best, which is givin you a line of “BS”, because they don't make any money on a recall. Here’s the link I used to use. Sorry for not posting it to begin with. I knew I had it, but I just had to find it. Dealers used to farm work out to me and Helene, so we got to use this recall on a number of cars and trucks. You should also complain to Chevy Customer Service. 800 number appears below.

Jerry, I knew there was a
Jerry,
I knew there was a recall and I told you that. Sorry for not being able to post the recall number, but both me and ASE are retired. We no longer keep an active database of recalls, TSB's and their respective numbers. In the future call a few dealers to be sure. Don't take the word of just one dealer if he tells you there is no TSB or recall. Most dealers (but not all) are corrupt, liars and thieves. When it comes to TSB's and recalls alot of dealers like to lie to consumers because they don't make enough money.
409 thanks, it seems gm
409 thanks,
it seems gm doesn't want to honor recalls either and don't show one for my vin. mike is checking further, i'll post the end result. appreciate your help.
Jerry, During my career I
Jerry,
During my career I worked for the NEW YORK STATE DEPARMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES as an expert witness for six years. The team of seven individuals I worked with shut down auto repair businesses across the State of New York. The charges included:
Unfounded and unnecessary repairs
Fraudulent repairs
Price gauging
Misleading and deceitful business practices
Unregistered and unlicensed individuals and or businesses. Here’s the break down.
2019 Dealerships
2043 Privately owned repair shops
1974 Commercial chain type auto repair shops.
The (CLASS ACTION SUIT) filed in 2008 entitles you to have your speedometer replaced (REGARDLESS) of your VIN number.

ase, will that work in texas?
ase, will that work in texas?
Jerry, Every state in the
Jerry,
Every state in the country has the type of consumer protection that ASE is talkin about. In your case the protection would through the same agency that issued you your drivers license. THE TEXAS STATE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES. Here’s a couple of helpful links buddy :-).

ase, 409 and mike, wife got
ase, 409 and mike,
wife got home from work so checked out the speedo and working perfectly. drove it to dinner and home no problem, no codes and working fine. guess it healed itself at least for now. thanks for all your info.
Jerry, Your welcome buddy but
Jerry,
Your welcome buddy but it didn't heal itself. It's just gonna be a matter of time before it messes up again. The fact that it's givin the "Illusion" that it's workin again only proves that the "Stepper Motors" (internal part of cluster/speedometer) are defective. In other words, it's normal for a defective stepper motors (or motors) to give that illusion. (Fade in and out actually).
409, i know that is the case,
409, i know that is the case, ticking time bomb but if its not broke i'll wait to fix it. maybe mws919 will find a recall i can force on the dealer but won't hold my breath.
Jerry, Stepper motors
Jerry,
Stepper motors (EXACTLY) as Big Block has stated. They are not mentioned in the recall because any skilled individual (READING) the recall should know how the stepper motors interact with the recall. From my mouth to (GODS EARS). The operative words in my statement were (READING SKILLED INDIVIDUALS). Don’t expect to find many (SKILLED INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN READ) working at a dealership. (CERTANILY) don’t expect to (FIND) any on Big Block’s LEVEL). Understand that this is a (TSB) that has (BECOME) a (RECALL). Thus the (CLASS ACTION SUIT). Ignore the part that states with (4.2L Engine Only VIN S - RPO LL8). Why are you ignoring it? Because of the (CLASS ACTION SUIT). If your dealer (REFUSES)to treat this as a recall, then write a letter to the (TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL). The letter (MUST) be detailed and (MUST) include all that Big Block, Mike, and I have (SAID). Here's a link.
