99 monte carlo, installed new engine, now it wont shift properly, has 2nd and drive, no first gear or overdrive..., worked fine before I installed the engine.

I installed a good running
I installed a good running 3.1, the trans in the car is fine, seems as if there is a wiring issue now because the car ( in drive ) starts out in drive from a stop, it doesnt start in low then upshift like it should, and it doesnt go into overdrive lock up at highway speed. If I manually shift from low, it still starts in 2nd and will only go into 3rd or drive, not overdrive. I cant find what sensor or connectors to check that control this. It has to be electrical, the transmission wasn't touched during the install.
