the brake rotors are warped, most brake shops will insp. the brakes for free. midas, monroe, ect...

Most likely warped rotors as mws919 has stated, but you still should check the tires for thread separation. Also warped or deformed tire.

like they said warped rotors (leading cause). have them measured and if they are thick enough you can have the machined to the restore a smooth stop. If they are not within specs, replace them.

Front rotors, as stated and restated are likely your problem. I would agree with Big Block that you should check the tires. When braking the weight shifts forward and can make faulty front tires show their heads. You mentioned the wheel shakes which is indicative of the problem being in the front but don't count the back brakes out. If rears are warped bad enough they can make the whole vehicle shake. On this vehicle you can isolate the rear brakes. Let us know and we'd be glad to share how.

No poster response since 7/8/2011. Check today's date gentlemen. Doubt very much anyone would be drivin around this long with a warped feeling in the wheel and brake pedal, and shaking as well.

how do the rear calipers look?

If you have to replace the rotors, be sure to buy a good quality rotor. I've have some aftermarket rotors to warp within a few months of installing them on the vehilce.
