do a carbon dioxide test at a shop to check for a head gasket leak - is there oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil / milky?
No, so far all is ok there, I
No, so far all is ok there, I had a back flush done last weekend. I know my head gasket needs to be replaced as i have over 164,000 miles on it and looking from underneath I should just changed it out, although the tech said i could go another few thousand miles. I am actually not leaking any fluids from anywhere except the slight weeping from the overflow tank, but I've since replaced it last weekend. My check engine light went off last night on my way home from work! what a strange car!
I am replacing head gasket next weekend and putting in some Therma gasket until then. I heard that K&W will do the same thing, but I wonder if I'm not driving it much, (ten miles a day) if I should just wait until the gasket replacement? Anyway, thank you so much for your help and replying back so quickly. cw
are the cooling fans working

Check and check on that, I
Check and check on that, I also had the dealership make sure that all my sensors were working and all the fans and motors. Well, I finally decided to have the head gasket replaced this next weekend. I really wanted to try it myself but I heard it's very detailed and can take up to 10 hours! With that schedule I mght as well install a new engine and tranny! LOL! Anyway, thanks for the input.
Be sure and bleed the cooling
Be sure and bleed the cooling system. Perform a system pressure test to check for leaks that are not so obvious (i.e., heater core, heater hoses, gaskets, etc.).
Thanks for the heads up. I
Thanks for the heads up. I just did a radiator flush and will do the transmission flush when I replace head gasket. I am a motorcycle person and this car has really stumped me. Strange things! My windshield wipers go on and off at will so I ordered the new switch and am having my friend install it. Just little things to bug me and learning about another engine is a bit more difficult than I thought but I'm not giving up yet! cw
let us know how all goes :)
let us know how all goes :)
i assume you don't have any
i assume you don't have any leaks,i changed a thermostat one time and was having the same problem.what i did wrong was have to much coolant in the mix,i thought that it wouldnt matter, but it kept overheating until i put enough water in to dilute the strength of the antifreeze, that might be your problem.....
