Blower motor issues

My blower motor only works on the 2 lowest speeds and I barely get any heat at all. '96 Dodge Dakota 5.2

The speeds are controlled by a variable resistor. Resistor failure is common. Pull the access panels under the dash and the glove box,then look for the part that appears in the link below.

I think Big block is right on the money. The resistor is a super common problem. He may also be right about the location. Many of the resistors are under the dash but I was thinking (just off the top of my head) that yours might be on the firewall in the engine compartment. I did a quick search and came up with this link. It might be incorrect but if it's not it will save you the time of pulling anything inside of the vehicle. The picture of the 1996 is towards the bottom. It is titled "My other Dakota".
