Dead car

My 04 Saturn Vue died at an intersection. I have checked to see if I am getting a spark, getting fuel and if the timing chain is intact. All seem to be ok. The battery is brand new and so is the alternator. the car turns over but wont fire. I am stuck at what to look for next.

Greg, You failed to post and

Greg,

You failed to post and engine size. (2.2 or 3.5)?

You also failed to detail how you checked for spark and fuel?

Also here’s a few “fun facts” to know :-).

The 2.2 uses a timing chain.

The 3.5 uses a timing belt (not a chain) and is an “Interference Engine”.

Having spark and fuel is just about useless unless both are reaching the plugs. So is that happening?

Do you what interference means and, how it could have something to do with the van just goin dead at the intersection?

I’ll tell you this. Until you determine if it has a timing chain or a timing belt, you shouldn't drive it, because you could really do some serious engine damage. Have it towed to a pro who can check it out.
