have 2004 f150 fx4. recently had oil changed and air filter. code p0022 showed. intake camshaft position timing retarded. engine idles rough and sounds rough. where should i look and what potential repairs am i looking for. thanks dave

Sounds like you have a CVT
Sounds like you have a CVT solenoid gone bad. (Cam Variable Timing). You can remove the bad one and replace it pretty easy. This is on bank 2. This is the Drivers side. The sensor is right in front just under the valve cover with a two wire connector plugged into it. One bolt holds it in and a rubber grommet. Let me know if this helps.

thanks for taking the time tosend advice. iwill change it on monday. turns out tech added 10w 30 instead of 5w 20 at oil change. ihave a feeling heavier oil may have coated sensor and screwed up readings. thanks dave
