how do i replace rear brake pads on 1996 pontiac grand prix ?

remove wheel - remove 2/3

remove wheel - remove 2/3 fluid from master cylinder so that it won't overflow when caliper is squeezed in - clean area with brake cleaner - remove bolts retaining shield assembly and remove shield - loosen tension on parking brake cable at equlizer - disconnect cable and return spring from brake lever - hold caliper and remove locknut - squeeze piston on caliper using old pad - reinstall the lever seal and rubber sealing bead against the caliper housing - remove caliper mounting bolts - detach brake hose from suspension bracket - remove the caliper and suspend with a wire - use a screwdriver to disengage the pads check bolt boots for damage - coat back of pads with anti squeal compund - install pads and reverse procedure - check brake fluid and test brakes - its always a good idea to have a manual for step by step install
