there's no reset, just what
there's no reset, just what is it doing or not doing?
I just had the battery
I just had the battery charged up put it in the horn honks and the lights flash so I'm goin to take the alternator back outand get it tested it's a rebuilt maybe it's no good
that sounds like a alarm
that sounds like a alarm problem, do your fobs work ok?
if so try locking and unlocking door with the fobs.
it could be that the switch in the door latch isn't working correctly, and if so the alarm module doesn't see the lock being stroked.
is it an aftermarket alarm???
is it an aftermarket alarm??? is so look for a button or switch by the pedals. by turning the key on and pressin the button or hitting switch then turning key off should put alarm in valet mode.
it's not after market if it
it's not after market if it has a door pad to enter a code.
I clicked on the wrong thing
I clicked on the wrong thing earlier, I was trying to thank you all for your help. The alarm still goes off as soon as I try and connect the battery, but I'm not giving up. If anyone thinks of anything else I appreciate it.
Well, the alarm still goes
Well, the alarm still goes off everytime I try to connect the battery, and I want you all to know I appreciate all of the advise. I'm still trying to figure it out, but I'm no mechanic. Again, I appreciate all of the help. Is it possible that the alternator is draining the battery enough when I do try to start it that the alarm goes off, which in turn makes it impossible to start it since it is connected to the starter. Is there anyway to disconnect it from the starter so this doesn't happen. Thanks
had the alarm ever gone off
had the alarm ever gone off befor, if so what did you do at that time to shut it off?
have you ever changed the door code from what it was when you frist got car?
No, I honestly didn't know it
No, I honestly didn't know it had an alarm. I bought it used for my daughter, thinkin it would be safe in a wreck, about 6 months ago. The car died on her one night, and I went and changed out the battery. I couldn't start it because the alarm started going off, so I called AAA. The tow truck driver tested the alternator and said it was bad, but he got in and it started up. She got it home, and I got the alternator (used), and changed it out. The alarm started up as soon as I hooked up the battery. So, I took the battery out and when and had it recharged, because the parts store said it was low. I came back put it in and it started for a few minutes. I tried it again, and the alarm started again. I pulled the battery out and took it back to the parts store, and they said it was a little low but not bad, so they charged it again. I haven't tried it again, because it's ticking me off. Meanwhile, I have tried unlocking it with the door code, and key. I tried unhooking the positive cable for several minutes at a time thinking that would reset it. I've tried turning the key off and on in the ingnition. I'm stuck on what to try next. Could it be a fuse?
wow!, you'll have to have
wow!, you'll have to have some one with a good scanner take a look at it, sounds like the theft system may have been the problem from the start.
the door sensors and the key cylinder will have to be checked.
when you connect the batt. it goes into a system test and some thing isn't responding correctly.
i'm thinking the door latch switch is open/shorted or the door module is is missing it's power/ground or class 2 wiring.
some times the wires in the door jams will brake because of being bent a bit with the door opening and closing, most of the time driver's door,"it's used more".
you can pull the rubber boot back enogh to see the wires, give each one a pull, if it comes out, it's broken.
let me know if you are following me, mws919
Ok I will check it in the
Ok I will check it in the late morning tomorrow and reply back thank you
ok
ok
Well, I pulled the rubber
Well, I pulled the rubber thing back and didn't find any bare or broke wires, I think its possessed. (HaHa) Do you know if I could follow the wires and find the starter and disconnect them from it so she wouldn't have this problem again. Thanks, its starting to snow here so I probably won't mess with it again till next Sunday. (I've been a paramedic for 10 years and people are way more easier to fix)
no, the system connect to a
no, the system connect to a few diff. modules that work togather as a hole to start and run the car.
you'll need to have some with the right tools look at it now, sorry
let us know how you make out with it thou.
